About: Weingut Sybille Kuntz
Sybille Kuntz was born into a family of winemakers. Sybille desires to create a Mosel wine with the characteristics of wine from famous regions. Sybille does not use chemical machines to control weeds. Instead, plants grow together with the grapevines, which are forced to go deeper in the ground. In this way, they receive more vitamins. The vineyards are located on steep hills, and are located in a way that the sun is able to shine on them vertically. Sybille harvest the grapes as late as possible, so the grapes are able to create more character.
Wine region Mosel is named after the river Mosel. This region is important for the production of Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein, but elegant and fresh dry wines are also produced. For a very long time, German wines had a bad reputation; Mosel wines were seen as cheap. This changed after the 1990’s, when winemakers introduced new technology to produce good quality wine. The most important grapes in Mosel are the Riesling and müller-thurgau. Interesting fact: nowhere in the world are the vineyards on such steep slopes.
